Pete Murphy joined Cardinal Innovations in 2011 as Chief Information Officer. He currently serves as Executive Vice President and CIO. He is responsible for information technology delivery, technology operational risk management, information security and resiliency, the Enterprise Project Management Office, and Data Science and Advanced Analytics. In 2014, the Charlotte Business Journal honored Murphy as CIO of the Year in the government/non-profit category.
Before joining Cardinal Innovations, Murphy developed technology and operations management experience in domestic and global Fortune 500 companies within the financial services industry. At TIAA-CREF, he served in both Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Technology Officer roles and also as a Director of the TIAA-CREF Life Insurance Company. Murphy also held senior management positions with Bank of America and Regions Financial. He is a patent co-inventor in the area of technology risk and control assessment. Outside of Cardinal Innovations, Murphy chairs the Board for the Computer Information Systems Department at Appalachian State University, and serves on advisory boards for the Health Informatics Technology program at UNC Charlotte, IT-oLogy Charlotte Executive Council and Learning Help Centers of Charlotte.
