Black Hat Announces Jen Easterly, Hans de Vries, Felicity Oswald OBE, and Moxie Marlinspike as Keynote Speakers for Black Hat USA 2024
Keynote topics will cover global democracy and the future of privacy
SAN FRANCISCO, July 11, 2024 — Black Hat, the producer of the cybersecurity industry's most established and in-depth security events, today announced Jen Easterly, Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA); Hans de Vries, Chief Cybersecurity and Operations Officer (COO) at the European Union (EU) Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA); Felicity Oswald, CEO at the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC); and Moxie Marlinspike, the founder of Signal, as Keynote speakers for Black Hat USA 2024. The Keynote speakers will present on Wednesday, August 7 and Thursday, August 8 to kick off each day of Briefings at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. Keynotes will take place in the Michelob ULTRA Arena within the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

Wednesday, August 7 at 9:00 AM – Democracy's Biggest Year: The Fight for Secure Elections Around the World
This Keynote will be presented by Jen Easterly, Hans de Vries, and Felicity Oswald, and moderated by Christina Cassidy, reporter for The Associated Press.
- Jen Easterly is the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). As Director of CISA, America's Cyber Defense Agency, Easterly leads CISA's efforts to reduce risk to the critical infrastructure Americans rely on every day. She is also a proud mom, a mental health advocate, and an aspiring electric guitarist.
- Hans de Vries is the Chief Cybersecurity and Operations Officer (COO) at the European Union (EU) Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). As COO at ENISA, Hans provides guidance and direction on the Agency's operations activities and strategically advises the Executive Director. His primary focus is the NIS2 implementation in the EU Member States, thereby helping to strengthen the current state of cybersecurity in Europe.
- Felicity Oswald is the CEO at the UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). Oswald played a pivotal role in the initial leadership of the NCSC, leading the establishment of its headquarters from design to its formal opening, and most recently served as the chief operating officer (COO) at the NCSC.

This Keynote will be presented by Moxie Marlinspike and Jeff Moss.
- Moxie Marlinspike is the founder of Signal and will present with Jeff Moss, the founder of Black Hat. In their talk, Marlinspike and Moss will delve into critical topics shaping the future of privacy, examine the complex tradeoffs between security and privacy, and explore the essential role of privacy in enabling social change.
- Jeff Moss is the founder of Black Hat and DEF CON conferences, former Chief Security Officer and VP at ICANN, and current member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Advisory Council.
