Adam Etherington
Practice Leader, Cybersecurity
Adam leads the global Cybersecurity Intelligence and Advisory team at Omdia. A regular speaker at industry events and executive roundtables, Adam thrives on driving deep insight through custom engagements with clients.
Adam joined in 2020, bringing more than two decades of experience as an executive overseeing managed networks, cloud, and cybersecurity solutions at some of the world’s largest IT services vendors and telecoms providers. His experience spans corporate strategy, product marketing, technical operations, market intelligence, sales, and strategic alliance roles. Adam holds a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University and an MBA from Deakin University (both in Australia). In 2022, Adam was awarded the Brookes Scholar Medal for outstanding academic achievement.
Adam Strange
Principal Analyst, Data Security
Adam Strange is responsible for delivering a comprehensive analysis and insight program focused on data security within the Omdia cybersecurity research function, supporting vendor, service provider and enterprise clients. Adam brings comprehensive experience of the cybersecurity industry, having worked for a series of UK-based channel and global vendor organisations.
Adam has spent his career working in enterprise IT and cybersecurity. He joined Omdia in Feb 2023, from data classification vendor Boldon James where he ran the marketing communications function. Prior to that, Adam worked within the cybersecurity business at BAE Systems, where he specialised in managed security, fraud prevention and anti-money laundering services in UK government and the Financial Services industry. Previously, Adam spent 8 years at Oracle UK promoting secure database solutions both directly and with partners. Before Oracle, he lead the enterprise solutions marketing team at Computacenter. Adam has an MSc in corporate management from Cranfield University.
Andrew Braunberg
Principal Analyst
Andrew supports Omdia's Cybersecurity Operations (SecOps) Intelligence Service research practice, guiding vendor, service provider, and enterprise clients. He provides thought-leading analysis on technologies, trends, and innovations in enterprise security operations centers (SOCs), and specifically on the proactive technologies used to avoid breach such as vulnerability management and attack surface management.
Andrew has been covering, researching, and speaking on topics related to enterprise information technology for approximately 20 years. Prior to joining Omdia (formerly Ovum) in 2022, Andrew spent five years at NSS Labs where he led the analyst group and worked closely with the company’s security product testing team.
Prior to NSS, Andrew spent more than a decade at GlobalData (formerly Current Analysis), where he managed the enterprise team and was the firm’s principal security analyst. Over his career, Andrew’s coverage has ranged from endpoint protection suites to network security appliances and solutions for protecting cloud-based assets.
Todd Thiemann
Principal Analyst, IAM and Data Security
Principal Analyst Todd Thiemann has over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity marketing and strategy. Todd helps clients understand emerging market trends, refine messaging, and distinguish themselves in the marketplace.
Todd spent most of his career leading cybersecurity marketing and product marketing at category leaders, including ReliaQuest, Arctic Wolf Networks, Vormetic (now Thales), Nok Nok Labs, and Trend Micro, where he helped articulate compelling messaging and execute successful go-to-market strategies. He holds a BS from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in Los Angeles.
Dave Gruber
Principal Analyst, Cybersecurity
Currently focusing on all facets of security operations solutions and services, analyst Dave Gruber helps product marketing and management leaders develop winning GTM and product strategies in highly competitive markets.
Prior to his analyst role, Dave held executive leadership positions at endpoint and application security firms, including VP of Product Marketing at Carbon Black during its IPO and VP of Products at Black Duck Software (acquired by Synopsys). With a strong technical background in enterprise application development, he is focused on researching CISOs’ and security teams’ pressing needs, collaborating with vendors on product development, go-to-market strategies, and messaging. Dave has appeared in various cybersecurity and tech publications and holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Maine in Orono.
Elvia Finalle
Senior Analyst, Cybersecurity
Elvia is an experienced analyst in Omdia’s cybersecurity team covering various market areas with a demonstrated history of working in the management consulting industry. Her specialized coverage includes SecOps and enterprise awareness training. Elvia has been creating databases and analyzing market trends for over three years in media and entertainment, ICT, and cybersecurity.
Elvia previously served as a research analyst at Frost & Sullivan, where she researched a full range of markets in the following industries: enterprise storage, broadcasting, cinematographic cameras, VR, and 360° video. Before entering the research industry, Elvia was engaged in a variety of roles in project management, sales, and public relations.
Hollie Hennessy
OT/IoT Practice Lead
Hollie provides insight into the fascinating and fast-moving domain of OT and IoT cybersecurity, covering both cybersecurity and product security across automotive, medical, embedded, and industrial.
Hollie has a range of experience in research. She began her career in the legal sector, writing and researching for expert witness reports on the labor market. She then moved into product testing, with a consumer protection focus. In this role, she was responsible for managing comparative tests of various technology and IoT products, as well as regular testing and investigative work into the security of these devices.
She has published articles in Which?, produced by the UK’s largest consumer organization and one of the country’s largest subscription magazines, Computing, and regularly provides expertise for news announcements and reports. She is also a regular speaker at industry security events, as well as specialised events in the OT and IoT cybersecurity space. She has a particular interest in regulation and standards, supporting numerous research projects on the topic, ranging from consumer device testing and labelling, 5G security standards, OT security regulation, and automotive cybersecurity regulation.
Luke Thornton
Senior Vice President Strategy and Corporate Development
Luke Thornton is VP of Strategy at Informa TechTarget. A seasoned finance and strategy executive, he has extensive experience in strategic finance, strategy and M&A. Most recently he was Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at Informa Tech.
Luke has held leadership roles in both established corporations and high-growth startups globally, operating across diverse industries including technology, healthcare, and energy.
Luke is a Chartered Accountant and has recently received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School.
Melinda Marks
Practice Director, Cybersecurity
Analyst Melinda Marks leads ESG’s analyst team focused on cybersecurity. Melinda covers technologies that help organizations scale safely while adopting faster cloud-native development cycles.
Melinda has over 20 years of experience in technology marketing and strategy, focusing on product value and revenue growth. She has held leadership roles at Soluble (acquired by Lacework), Armorblox, Styra, StackRox (acquired by Red Hat), Tenable, Qualys, and VMware, where she built the customer reference program and led product PR. She is a Synopsys Outreach Foundation board member and has a bachelor’s degree in English from UC Berkeley.
Matthew Ball
Chief Analyst, Cybersecurity Channel Strategy
Matthew Ball leads the Cybersecurity Ecosystems and Global IT Opportunity research services at Canalys, now part of Omdia. He delivers strategic insights into the evolving cybersecurity partner landscape, analyzing vendor engagement with MSPs, MSSPs, GSIs, and the transformation of routes to market, including marketplaces. His research spans platform adoption, M&A activity, emerging vendor funding, and the intersection of AI and cybersecurity.
As the lead of the global IT opportunity service, Matthew helps clients quantify addressable market potential, track IT spending trends, and assess macro risks that affect growth and execution. He also leads confidential consultancy projects, contributes to global surveys, and provides tailored guidance to clients worldwide.
A regular speaker at Canalys channels forums, trade shows, and partner summits, Matthew is recognized for his deep industry knowledge and clear strategic thinking. He joined Canalys, now part of Omdia, in 2004, following three years at MZA. He holds an honors degree in geography from the University of Birmingham.
Maxine Holt
Vice President, Enterprise and Channel Research
Maxine Holt leads the Enterprise & Channel research group incorporating Omdia cybersecurity, cloud and data center, platforms and applications (including AI, IoT, and digital workplace), and Canalys Channels research. Maxine has spent her entire career in the technology industry, and her team delivers a comprehensive research program to support vendor, channel, and enterprise clients. Maxine also leads the Omdia Analyst Summit at the high-profile Black Hat series of events.
Maxine has spent her entire career as an IT and security professional and has been at Omdia since 2018. She is the lead architect of the Omdia Cybersecurity Ecosystem. Maxine built her in-depth cybersecurity expertise initially at the Information Security Forum (ISF), developing thought-leading security research for ISF members. Prior to ISF, Maxine spent 15 years in technology research at Ovum, starting her career as a software developer in the financial services industry and working in consulting for the financial services and internet sectors. Maxine was named the IIAR Industry Analyst of the Year, EMEA, 2023 and is a regular speaker at events, also contributing thought-leading content to high-profile publications in cybersecurity and technology.
Theresa Lanovitz
Principal Analyst, Cybersecurity
Theresa Lanowitz covers vulnerability and risk management, aimed at ensuring security teams can successfully mitigate risk while enabling the adoption of cutting-edge technology to drive growth, innovation, and competitive advantage. Theresa is a well-established global influencer who speaks on trends and technologies to help today’s businesses flourish. Prior to joining Omdia, Theresa was Chief Evangelist at AT&T Cybersecurity and its spinoff, LevelBlue, where she led strategic marketing, communications, PR, thought leadership, content, and evangelism for the world’s largest pure-play MSSP.
Previously, Theresa was an industry analyst at Gartner, where she led the application quality ecosystem, championed application security, and created the AppDev conference. She then led the analyst firm voke, where she covered emerging technologies and established the lifecycle virtualization category. As a product manager at Borland, Theresa launched the Java IDE, JBuilder. At Sun Microsystems, she led strategic marketing for Jini, a precursor to IoT. Theresa began her career as a software developer at McDonnell Douglas and held a Top Secret security clearance from the U.S. Dept. of Defense. She holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
