Mr. Bruns previously served as CISO of Maryland, the first Director of Maryland State Cybersecurity, and CISO of Howard County outside of Washington D.C. With 20+ years IT experience, Mr. Bruns led cyber strategy and operations for organizations with $60B+ in revenue, $100M+ cybersecurity budgets, and large technical teams of 65+ across security operations & engineering, threat intelligence, network & endpoint detection and response, identity and access management, vulnerability management, GRC, training, and managed services. An expert in supercharging SecOps Fusion Centers with AI-driven capabilities, Mr. Bruns seeks to ensure IT teams harness the power of their security telemetry to reduce exposure, automate threat hunting, and speed time to detect and respond. Mr. Bruns advocates the need for security insights to be an integral part of business decision making. A Maryland-native, Mr. Bruns (CISSP, CISM, CCRP, PMP) holds an M.S. in Cybersecurity from Wilmington University, an M.S. in Education from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in English from Wake Forest University.
