Sustainability at SecTor 2024
SecTor is committed to positively impacting the cybersecurity community and the planet. Below are key sessions, features, partnerships, and resources that highlight SecTor’s efforts to deliver a responsible and inclusive event.
INSPIRING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
To inspire sustainable development in the cybersecurity community, SecTor is featuring Briefings and a Community Program that connect to sustainability, diversity, and inclusivity:
MINIMIZING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
- SecTor 2024 is powered by 100% renewable electricity.
- Our venue, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, focuses on various sustainability initiatives and programs, including extensive waste management, renewable energy, and reducing traffic and carbon monoxide emissions in the local area for move-in/out for vendors and exhibitors
- SecTor no longer incorporates aisle floor carpet within the design of the Business Hall, to minimize the environmental impact often associated with short-term usage of carpet. The specific square meters of the amount of carpet that SecTor 2024 will prevent from being sent to the landfill will be made available post-event.
- We preference digital signage and encourage exhibitors and sponsors to think about sustainability in their procurement choices.
DESIGNING SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE EVENTS
- SecTor has developed a Code of Conduct and Sustainability Pledge to hold itself, our attendees, vendors, and contractors accountable to deliver the best event experience possible
- Our event is intentionally located in downtown Toronto to encourage commuting and is easily accessible via public transportation.
- We select purposeful partnerships with key industry partners and non-profit associations.
- Pronoun ribbons will be available at Registration and there is an optional field on our mobile app to display pronouns.
- A Wellness Room is available throughout the duration of the event, to provide attendees a quite space to decompress and unplug. This space is optimal for any attendees that need a space to meditate or pray.
- Accessible seating will be available in each of the Keynote and Briefing rooms and is reserved with signage.
- Open captioning will be available for all recorded content.
- The Metro Toronto Convention Centre complies with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), its regulations, and guidelines.
