Dave Herrald is a Principal Security Strategist for Splunk where he serves as a technical resource to customers and performs field security research and evangelism. He's currently focused on the Splunk Boss of the SOC(BOTS), performing research into adversary simulation for blue teams, the practical application of machine learning to information security. Dave has worked in various information security practitioner and leadership roles including pre-sales engineer, strategic security consultant, penetration tester, hands-on security architect/engineer/analyst, and chief information security officer. He holds a number of security certifications including GIAC Security Expert (GSE) #79.
