Registration FAQs

Did my registration go through?
If you entered submit and were able to print the page headed “Black Hat USA 2004 Registration Confirmation Page”, you are officially registered. However, admission into the conference is contingent on payment in full. This page confirms that yor registration information has been sent to the registration company. This page is NOT a confirmation of payment. After payment has been processed will we send you a Confirmation of Registration and Payment via surface mail.

When will my confirmation be mailed?
When payment is complete. Once your payment has been received, we will mail a confirmation of payment. In the case that you have registered within the last two weeks prior to that start of the conference, you may not be receive a registration confirmation in time. Please be sure to bring a picture ID to the registration desk.

Do I need to bring my confirmation letters?
No, although it will greatly speed up the registration process.

What do I need to bring for registration?
A picture ID. A copy of your confirmation letter will also speed up the registration process.

Will I get a receipt?
Receipts and confirmations will be mailed weekly beginning April 1, 2004. If you lose your receipt or fail to receive one in the mail, you can pick one up from the registration desk once the conference starts.

Can I substitute another person in my place?
Yes, but you must Email us by July 1, 2004. Send requests for substitutions to: info at convmgmt.com. Remember to include your name as well as the name of the person who is replacing you.

What if I need to cancel?
Registrants who must cancel may substitute another person by submitting a written request.

  • Registrants who cancel and do not substitute another person will receive a refund less a $150 USD processing fee if notification is submitted in writing on or before July 1, 2004.
  • Registrants who either cancel after July 1, 2004, or fail to attend the conference, send a substitute or transfer their registration to another Black Hat event will be liable for the entire cost of the conference.
  • Fees are non-refundable after July 1, 2004.

Do the registration fees include hotel accommodations?
No. You must make your own arrangements. Black Hat delegates can take advantage of group rates at Caesar’s Palace. For more infornation and to reserve a room, visit the Black Hat Hotel & Venue page.

What forms of payment do we accept?
We accept the following forms of payment: credit card (Mastercard, Visa & American Express), cash, check (registered, US corporate bank & cashier), traveler's checks, money order (US Postal and Western Union), wire transfers (must be completed two weeks prior to the start of the show).
NOTE: Purchase Orders (PO's) are not considered payment. A purchase order is a request for a check. We are more than happy to forward an invoice so that you may process your purchase order request for a check but we DO NOT accept PO's as a form or proof of payment.

What if I need an EIN number?
If you require the Black Hat EIN number in order to complete payment, please forward the appropriate paperwork to us via email (ping at blackhat.com) or fax (+1 206 679 4225). Black Hat DOES NOT distribute its EIN number unless accompanied by proper paperwork - usually a W-9 form.


General Conference FAQs

What are the duration of the sessions?
Training is two days. Briefings are two days. 

What time do the sessions begin?
Continental breakfast is available outside the meeting rooms from 08:00–09:00. Sessions begin thereafter and end at 18:00.

Can I switch training classes?
You are registered only for the training class you selected. In order to change classes, please Email your request to: info at convmgmt.com. Class space for the training is extremely limited and we have sold out in years past so there is no guarantee that space will be available in the class you are requesting.

Can I switch tracks at the Briefings?
Yes. All tracks of speaking are open and you may move between rooms as you please. 

What meal functions are included in the registration fees?
Daily continental breakfast, 2 coffee breaks, daily luncheon and a Reception on first evening of the Briefings.

What do I do if I lose my badge or forget my badge in my room?
Lost badges incur a $500 replacement fee. Delegates without badges will not be allowed into any of the meals or session rooms.

I lost my delegate bag/conference proceedings/CD... can I get a replacement?
Items can be replaced at cost, providing there are additional copies available.

How many ISC(2) CPE Credits will I recieve?
You will receive 8 credits per day. Two days of Briefings plus 2 days of training will total 32 credits. Two days of either training or briefings total 16 credits.

How do I get my ISC(2) CPE credits?
You must fill out the Black Hat ISC(2)/CPE credit form (available at the registration desk) with your CISSP number and return it to the registration desk by the end of the conference. We do the rest!

Will there be public computer terminals available for use?
No.

Will there be internet access?
Yes. There will be a wireless 802.11b network. You will need to provide your own laptop and wireless card to access the network.

Will the wireless network be secure?
No. Please exercise caution and the proper security measures to protect yourself.


MISC FAQs

Are shuttle buses available?
The hotel does not provide complimentary shuttle service.

How do I receive my free DEFCON pass?
The badge you receive for the Black Hat Briefings is your free admission ticket to DEFCON. You must have the front and back portion to be admitted to the conference. If you lose this badge, you will be required to pay the full admission price to DEFCON ($80 US, cash only).

Do I get a DEFCON pass if I register for Black Hat Training only?
No.

How do I become a Black Hat speaker?
You must read and complete the Call for Papers form.
